2005 LTC Ridership

Staff Report #8 from the 2006/02/01 agenda identifies that there were 18,261,200 individual passenger trips in 2005.

Although “Cash Riders” and “Ticket Riders” can easily be calculated based upon farebox revenue, I was curious how the LTC can calculate figures for “Pass Riders” and “Tuition Pass Riders.”

This from Joanna Kurowski (LTC Manager of Service Quality)…

“The calculation of pass riders is based upon the respective sales by pass type, times an average ride factor per pass, per day of week per season. The ride factors are determined through a combination of periodic passenger surveys and on board passenger counts. The applied formula is standard for the industry.”
