fowgre avatarAre you a woman who’s ever been raped? Are you somebody who has ever been otherwise physically assaulted? Are you elderly and afraid to walk the streets past dusk? Are you a parent who worries about the safety of your children after they leave your house? If so, this post is for you…

What you’re looking at here are only the most recent photos of the walkway which connects Eagle Crescent with King Edward Avenue. In the past, I’ve posted many more. And I’ve alerted local politicians and city staff about the situation. And I’ve appeared at City Hall and have made verbal/written submissions about this and other pedestrian-safety concerns.

And yet, our elected ‘representatives’ do nothing.

I’ve emailed those local politicians and I’ve copied those emails to the local media. And yet, the local media ignores the issues.

Are you a citizen with a moral compass? Do you accept that you must shoulder some of the responsibility for what happens in our community?

Would you be willing to financially contribute to a class-action lawsuit against the Corporation of the City of London, Ontario?

I’m listening.

Added 2008/06/24:

Hand-delivered more flyers this afternoon and noticed that the city had a crew go in and trim back a lot of the foliage earlier today. I guess I got their attention again, but it’s only a shallow victory. I know that it won’t be long before the problem reappears, because the city isn’t interested in dealing with it and isn’t concerned with pedestrian safety.
