Leckie Pops His Head Up
David Leckie (London’s Director of Roads and Transportation) spouted off in a letter to the LFP editor today (”Smooth city streets make construction season worth the disruption“).
You’ve got to admire the guy’s nerve.
Here’s my response:
“Mr. Leckie: You ought not need to be reminded that automotive travel isn’t the only mode share, and that in fact, London promotes alternative mode shares. Note that I said promotes, rather than supports. Instead of crowing about all the money you’ve spent catering to drivers, perhaps you’d explain why the rest of us continue to get shafted? Maybe you’ll explain the silence with respect to the police report about the channelized intersection at Commissioners/Pond Mills which is dangerous to pedestrians? The warrants system that depends solely upon pedestrian volume and allows you to ignore other criteria? The lack of sufficient spending on such things as new sidewalks and pathway lighting?”
