Alcohol at Community Centres
Last spring, London temporarily stopped accepted bookings for ’stag and does,’ weddings and wedding receptions except for the Civic Garden complex and Springbank Gardens.
The city’s Community and Protective Services Committee will host a public participation meeting at 5:30pm today in order to consider these two options:
- to allow bookings of alcohol related social events
- to only permit alcohol events that are perceived to provide a benefit to the public (ie celebrations or fundraisers that support sport, recreation, culture or community development)

Greg. Where is this meeting being held? City Hall?
I worked at a city community centre for some time while attending high school and I saw more than my fair share of alcohol related events.
Kevin: 2nd floor of City Hall in the CPSC meeting room.
Greg: thanks for the information on all of your posts
Is this only for city-owned buildings?
Even if that’s the case, why? I thought we got over the whole “alcohol is evil” thing when prohibition ended.
And we only want people to be drunk when they’re doing something important for the community? What?
