Police Release – Pornography and Sexual Assault
On Sunday January 4 2009 at 9:29 pm a London male was arrested after an investigation by Detectives from the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section. Between January 2008 and August 2008 a young person attended a residence in London on several separate occasions where alleged sexual activity/assaults occurred.
Johannes Shawn Heller, 38 years of London is charged with seven counts of sexual assault, two counts of accessing child pornography, two counts of making child pornography, three counts of sexual exploitation of a young person, four counts of sexual interference with a person under 16 years and six counts house holder permitting sexual activity, one count of procuring (person under the age 18 years) and two counts of indecent act.
Johannes Shawn Heller will be appearing in court today and the investigation is continuing.

This man was my french teacher in grade 9 at LDSS im in shock when i found this out
now im currently in gr 11
this man did great things for alot of people.
if the charges are true, he deserves to be punished. I (personaly) find it hard to believe that they are, but theres a point in everyones life where they learn some people arent who they say the are. anyone who went to school at ldss knows this man was either loved or hated. there were not alot of people inbetween.
regardless of the fact, i have seen people that were from ldss posting things like ‘im scared now’. first of all there there is no reason to be scared…hes not there, hes behind bars. second of all if he never hurt you, theres no reason to make rude comments. if he is found guilty, then rude comment away.
my opinion for the people that he helped…be thankful for the good things he did for you. remember those. he was dealing with alot. maybe something made him snaap, maybe he was never the person sa many believed he was…but people change. if these things are true and he hurt you I am truly and deeply sorry and he does deserve to be punished. I guess time will tell.
I appreciate your restraint under such a difficult circumstance. It’s easy to automatically think the worst, but it’s important to remember that so far he’s only charged with wrongdoing. We have to hope that if the charges are true that the Crown will be able to prove it, but unless that proof is forthcoming it’s incumbent upon us to accord him the presumption of innocence.
regardless of what happens people are not being fair to those who did appreciate this man. i believe he is innocent until proven guilty. there is another site on the internet and people are saying alot of rude things about him teaching them and ‘hes a creep’ and mentioning people. i DO NOT believe that it is fair to those he affected in positive ways to actually have their names mentioned. I am thankful for the positive things he did for me. I also believe no one that is posting on the internet right now has enough information to make judgement calls. again everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but that doesnt mean that everyone else has to agree with them.
Even if he is innocent, his life is ruined now and he will be forever known as the kid touching teacher. Presumption of innocence isn’t part of the public vernacular once the police publish it in the paper.

The public has a right to know who’s being charged by police, and what those charges are. There needs to be at least as much oversight of the police as any other institution. So hopefully you’re not blaming them for disclosing that charges were laid. And they didn’t publish anything in the paper, the paper did that. Just as I make the decision whether or not to publish the police media releases on this site.
What does it say about our society if you’re right that most people automatically equate such accusation with guilt? And what should be done about that?
yes his life will be ruined if he is innocent. unfortunatly that is a horrible situation to be put into. this man made a huge impression on my life. i was going downhill fast and he helped me change that. he made me a better person. this situation is tough for me because it hits so close to home.
however, the public does have a right to know. as far as society automatically assuming guilt…unfortunatly thats the world we live in. everyones bad. everyone wants to see the bad. watch the news, how often do you see good and happy things on it? people watch for bad things. i have had many discussions over this subject and it appears to me that those who knew him, automatically assume guilt, those he helped, automatically assume guilt, those he taugh, worked beside, and shared with…automatically assume guilt.
from my point it is hard to believe the accusations, it is also hard to ignore them. expecially with so many charges. I, personally, want to believe it is not true. but i accept that i will probably never know or fully understand the situation.
as for ‘what should be done about that (assuming guilt)?’ what can be done about that? maybe its an idealistic idea but; people cant change everyone else. it starts with you, the way you think, act, believe…

I think i read another posting of yours on a different site. I admire your respect, integrity and positive attitude in light of this troubling situation. I realize Shawn/Johannes/Mr.Heller did a lot of great things and helped people immensely. And you have realized the good. Take the strength he instilled in you, but take it for what it is, and live your life as a better person you said that you have become. I do want to say tho, aside from his endless good deeds, he screwed up. This is a very complex situation, secretive, and surprisingly not very recent. The developments in this case have come to the publics’ attention as of late, however, this is obviously not a series of allegations which deal with evens that occurred in the last couple days. I can’t say much in regards to this issue, but it will take some time to resolve itself, through the whole legal process. This is hard to say for me, but … deleted by Ed. There are many people (ie students and others) who are feeling betrayed, duped and emotionally scarred and damaged. This is a sad situation, and its hard to bring out the good. You have done so, which I appreciate, and I completely understand where you are coming from. I am just worried … deleted by Ed.
This is all i feel like saying, i do not intend to offend, just bring light to some of the mental conundrums we are all dealing with,

Good words of advice, I completely agree with everything you are saying. I feel the same way and am shocked about this whole situation. I realize we cannot always figure these things out until they happen, which always makes you contemplate after the fact all the things that seem weird to us now. What a waste of a life and how unnecessary and cruel of an act to commit.
