Bikes in Buses

For those of you who recently expressed an interest in being able to take your bicycles on LTC buses, after I mentioned buggies, wheelchairs etc. in my Courtesy Seating posts.

Here’s the inquiry:

I’m already aware that LTC has been considering the placement of bike racks on at least some of it’s buses, but is there a policy with respect to bikes inside the buses? Given the fact that you allow baby buggies/strollers inside, should bikes deserve similar accomodation?

And the answer:

Bicycles are permitted on LTC vehicles noting that during peak hours the operator has the discretion to determine whether it would create a hazard to others. Operators are to advise passengers travelling with a bicycle to place it in a safe place away from other passengers. If the bicycle cannot be accommodated, the operator will explain why and advise passenger of time of next scheduled bus.
