From My Bottom Step

It’s “official.” After a week of community input and hearing what everyone has to say about where and when they would like to participate in a PhotoWalk something has now been “scheduled”.

After taking into consideration the input that people gave in regards to time, place etc. it seemed as if the following was the most appropriate for London’s “first” (?) Group/”Official” (?) PhotoWalk.

Date: Sunday April 5th, 2009
Time: 11:00 AM
Place: East London
Meeting Place: East Village Coffee House

It seemed for the majority of people who submitted their preference that the weekends/Sunday was the most appropriate time of the week and although this does not fit with everyone’s schedule I think that it is the best suited compromise.

As for the location, Randy had what I think was a great suggestion of going down to East London and photographing that neighbourhood (primarily the commercial area I assume) before it becomes a pile of rubble due to all of the development work that will soon be underway.

As I suggestion perhaps we could all meet at the East Village Coffee House located just west of Aeolian Hall on the south side of Dundas Street.  I’ve heard nothing but good things about this Coffee House and there is even ample parking close by (see provided map) and it’s on a bus route.  If I am ambitious that day I might even head out earlier to grab some breakfast in East London.

As for the weather and the role it will play I cannot say but I think that is something that we will just have to “play by ear”.

I think it would be “cool” in the end if we could all share the photos we take with each other (and the public) using one of the popular photo sharing sites.  May I suggest Flickr?  Not only is is free, it provides possibly one of the best implementations of social networking of any other service on the web. We could possibly tag the photos with: #londonont #lopw and #eastlondonont so that they are easy to find and searchable by all.  This is just an idea (that others raised as well) but I think if we are going to do this we try to get everyone using one common platform.  Just an idea.
