The challenge to traditional communication channels and the empowerment of individuals began with the advent of the Internet. With each new social media application, the industries which used to control the collection, manipulation and dissemination of news lose a bit more of their influence on popular opinion.

Remarkably, just as respected research company comScore was reporting that “worldwide visits to Twitter approached 10 million in February,” Reuters published an article (’Twitter Older Than It Looks‘) which reveals just how much it’s being embraced by older users.
