Police Release – Impaired Driving Message
The first “summer” long holiday weekend starts this Friday and regardless of the weather many motorists will take to the roads and head to there summer fun places. Whether it’s Grand Bend, Port Stanley or any of the many other vacation spots the London Police want all motorists to get to and from these “fun” places safely.
Alcohol has always been an big part of this weekend as teenagers get away from parents to go camping or cottaging. What you do when you get there is mostly your business, what you do in the process of driving to and from is police business. Obey the speed limit, concentrate on driving, wear your seatbelt and don’t drink and drive.
With the new Ontario law of .05 being the “legal” limit, drivers who don’t pay attention can find themselves without a drivers licence to get home. The law came into effect May 1st and already there have been multiple drivers who have already been “warned” for a second time. This means they’ve had their licence suspended for the 3 day first offence and now a 7 day suspension and an alcohol education course.
Let’s turn the trend around. Don’t drink and drive!
London Police will be conducting RIDE programs this weekend in the City.
