Crime Prevention Week – Internet Safety for Kids

A London Police Service media release:

The Internet can be a terrific tool for assisting young people with school assignments and other research, but it can also pose a serious safety risk unless parents follow some basic safety tips:

  • Keep your computer in a central location where you can monitor what your children are doing while they are on “the net”
  • Educate your children never to give out personal information to anyone via the internet
  • Instruct your children never to open e-mail messages that are from a stranger
  • Monitor very closely when your children are visiting a “chat room” or similar electronic conversation area

For further information, please contact the London Police Community Services Unit at 661-5680.
