Est’d +17K Damage

A London Police Service media release:

On Sunday November 8 2009 at 3:10 pm Police observed a blue pickup truck driving erratically in the area of Wellington Street and Horton Street. The vehicle was squealing its tires and lost control after turning southbound on Richmond Street.

The vehicle struck a curb, veered into a tree and then struck a brick wall to 197 Richmond Street. The vehicle returned to the roadway and turned onto Simcoe Street. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at Wellington Street and narrowly avoided a collision with several southbound vehicles. The vehicle lost control and struck a hydro electrical box, a wooden sign and a hydro pole before coming to a stop.

The driver fled on foot and was and arrested shortly thereafter in the area by Police. The vehicle was reported stolen earlier that day. Damage is estimated at $17,200.00. There were no reported injuries.

A 17 year old male of London is charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
