Ignorant, Stupid Driver

Drivers who are so self-absorbed or intent on beating red lights that they’re willing to put other people at risk. That’s been getting worse here for decades, helped a lot by insufficient police enforcement. But the absolute height of ignorance has to be drivers who disregard emergency vehicles, something that I’m seeing way too much of lately.

Here’s a clip that I shot at Dundas/Wellington yesterday when I was on my way to do my webcasting at City Hall. It’s a good thing that the EMS driver was paying attention.

One Response to “Ignorant, Stupid Driver”

  • Greg: That shot of the car holding up the ambulance is unbelievable. I’ve been driving over 25 years with no accidents, but I can tell you that that the idiocy on the road at present makes me shake. Disrespect for emergency vehicles and basic rules of the road that keeps EVERYBODY safe leave me unnerved everytime I drive.

Another thing you should watch out for are cars poking out into the roadway from parking lots trying to turn left where there is no safe way on. They will sit in the opposite lanes, playing chicken, just hoping, praying that somebody will let them in. I’ve seem many occasions where oncoming traffic has to stop to avoid a T-bone accident.

By the way the footage is great. Much better than anything I’ve managed to do with my handheld camera. It’s not shaky or full of extra noise
