Dogs Shot by Police
A London Police Service media release:
On Friday November 20 2009 at 5:53 am Police were called to Elias Street near Elizabeth Street regarding two dogs running at large that had attacked and killed a cat. The dogs had also lunged at a male on a bicycle and chased a citizen who took shelter in his vehicle.
Police and Animal Care and Control attended and were unable to safely capture the dogs. At 6:29 am on English Street south of Lorne Avenue one of the dogs charged at an officer and was shot. The shot wounded the dog and the dogs continued westbound on Elias Street. One of the dogs ran at a woman who was putting garbage out and she was able to escape by entering her car in the driveway. Both dogs fled northbound to a nearby rail yard where they were shot by Police for the public’s safety. The dogs appeared to have been abandoned and were in very poor condition. There were no citizens or Police Officers injured. Police are still investigating and trying to locate owner(s).
