Cheque Presentation
The United Way was presented with a cheque by the Mayor on behalf of city employees (Local 101) on Monday.
According to Her Worship: “The City of London over the last number of years have consistently increased the amount of money that we’ve raised and more now than ever before we know that there’s a need in our community.”
According to Pat McNally (EES GM): “Our goal was $60,000 and as you can see we passed that goal by almost 4%.”
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the United Way was Andrew Lockie (CEO):
We are delighted to receive this great news today. I think we all know that fundraising is challenging in this economic climate and this amount is a testament to all the employees at the City of London and the leadership from folks like yourselves around the horseshoe here. So we wanted to thank you so much for your committment to the United Way which we view as a critical investment in the community. You know, the economy makes it harder to fundraise but it also makes it harder for a lot of people to live and to have the basic social services that they need to get by. And at the United Way, we view ourselves as a place where you can make an investment in the community. And to see people making that investment right now is very encouraging.
