Expedition Leads to Arrests
A London Police Service media release:
On December 7, 2009, at 1:52 am London Police observed a black Ford Expedition in the city’s south end that had been reported stolen from Embro, Ontario the previous day.
The Expedition sped away from police and a short time later was recovered in a marsh area south of the dead end of Adelaide Street just north of Highway 401. The occupants had just fled from the truck and numerous police officers and a K-9 unit attended to assist in the search.
K-9 located three of the suspects hiding in the bush nearby. Two were arrested and the third fled on foot. Another K-9 track was initiated and a third suspect was found hiding in a truck compound on Towerline Road.
As a result of information obtained at the scene, a stolen GMC Sierra pickup truck with stolen plates was recovered at a hotel on Exeter Road. A female was arrested inside the hotel. Further information was gathered and police obtained and executed a search warrant at an address on Boullee Street. As a result of that search, a shotgun, reported stolen from the Embro address, was recovered in the basement of the residence. A Young Offender male was arrested inside the residence.
CHARGES:
Krystal ACKLAND and Nicholas JOHNSTONE are charged jointly with:
1) Possess Property obtained by Crime under $5,000 – in relation to stolen licence plates.
2) Possess Property obtained by Crime over $5,000 – in relation to possession of the stolen GMC Sierra Pickup truck.
3) Possess Break In Instrument – in relation to possession of bolt cutters which were located in the stolen GMC Sierra pickup truck.
Nicholas JOHNSTONE and Shawn HARBACK are charged jointly with:
1) Occupy Motor Vehicle/Vessel Taken Without Consent – in relation to being a passenger in the stolen Ford Expedition.
2) Possess Break In Instrument – in relation to possession of bolt cutters, screw drivers and pliers located in the stolen Ford Expedition.
Mark BARTON is charged individually with:
1) Possess Property obtained by Crime over $5,000 – in relation to possession of the stolen Ford Expedition.
2) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle – in relation to his operation of the stolen Ford Expedition along Bessemer Road, running the stop sign and red light, as well as leaving the roadway at the south end of Adelaide Street to evade the police.
3) Possess Break In Instrument – in relation to possession of bolt cutters, screw drivers and pliers located in the stolen Ford Expedition.
As a result of the Search Warrant being executed on Boullee Street, the following charges were laid:
A 14 YEAR OLD YOUNG OFFENDER is charged individually with:
1) Storing, ammunition, namely shotgun shells, in a carless manner.
2) Possess a firearm, namely a shotgun, without being the holder of a licence.
3) Storing a firearm in a carless manner
4) Possess Firearm while knowingly not being the holder of a licence/registration certificate for the firearm.
5) Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime.
