Baton Robbery in Glen Cairn

A London Police Service media release:

On Sunday December 13 2009 at 12:35 pm a male entered the King Variety located at 150 King Edward Avenue, brandished an expandable metal baton and demanded money from the male clerk. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the store.

The clerk chased after the suspect along with a male citizen. The citizen and the clerk followed the suspect to the area of Scenic Drive. The suspect continued to swing the baton at the clerk and at the citizen. The citizen tackled the suspect and retrieved the baton. While on the ground the suspect attempted to bite the citizen.

Police attended and arrested the suspect. A quantity of the stolen money was recovered. The clerk and the citizen were not injured.

Correy Monteith 29 years of London is charged with Robbery, having his face masked and assault with intent to resist arrest.
