Jewelry Theft at Masonville Mall

A London Police Service media release:

On Wednesday December 16 2009 at 1:20pm a male stole some jewelry from the Masonville Mall, located at 1680 Richmond St. The male was followed from the mall by store staff to a waiting motor vehicle.

When confronted by staff members about the theft, the male suspect brandished a screw driver. The male was contained at the scene by staff with the assistance of nearby citizens and London Police attended to investigate.

The male suspect and female driver were subsequently arrested and the jewelry was recovered. No one was injured during this incident.

Carl SMITH, 48yrs, of London is charged with one count of theft over $5000 and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

Julie CLARKE, 39yrs, of London is charged with one count of possession of marihuana (small quantity) and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (small quantity of Temazepam).
