We Won!

OMG, did you hear the news? At the Copenhagen climate change conference, environmentalists from all over the world accorded Canada a “Colossal Fossil” award.

Clad in a tuxedo for the momentous occasion, Ben Wikler (Avaaz.org) was quoted as saying:

Fossil of the Year goes to CANADA, for bringing a totally unacceptable position into Copenhagen and refusing to strengthen it one bit. Canada’s 2020 target is among the worst in the industrialized world, and leaked cabinet documents revealed that the governments is contemplating a cap-and-trade plan so weak that it would put even that target out of reach.

Don’t you feel special? Just think! Our country is being viewed as having done more to obstruct the UN climate negotiations than any other country!

Maybe it’s to be expected. Sour grapes and all that. After all, we are the biggest per-capita polluter in the world. Do they think it’s easy for us trying to maintain our position as #1?
