Olympic Flame Event

A London Police Service media release:

The Olympic Flame arrives in London on Thursday December 24th at 2:15 pm. The police escort of the runners begins at Wellington Road and Exeter Road at 2:18pm and goes northbound on Wellington Road arriving at Victoria Park at 3:30pm.

Northbound motorists on Wellington Road will be impacted if they are behind the flame convoys. Southbound motorists will not be affected.

In the downtown area, Dufferin Avenue between Clarence Street and Waterloo Street as well as Wellington Street between Central Avenue and Queens Avenue will be closed as the flame gets into the downtown area.

All Londoners are encouraged to participate as spectators in this historic event. If you are able to attend Victoria Park, the celebration festivities start at 2:15pm and end at 4:30pm. If you wish to watch as the flame proceeds northbound on Wellington Road, the best viewing opportunities will be from the east side of the road only.

Approximately 28 runners will carry the torch in 300 metre stretches along this route starting at 2:18pm.

Motorists looking to avoid the congestion should take alternate northbound routes rather than using Wellington Road.
