Woman Tries to Disarm Police Officer

A London Police Service media release:

On December 23, 2009 at approximately 1:30 pm members of the London Police attended an address on Queens Avenue to arrest a male on outstanding warrants. The male was located, and while he was being arrested, a 51 year old woman attacked one of the officers in an effort to prevent the arrest.

A physical altercation ensued during which time she grabbed the officer’s gun in an attempt to disarm him. After a brief struggle, she was arrested.

The officer suffered scratches and bruising to his face. He was treated at hospital and released.

  • As a result of this incident, the 23 year old male now faces a charge of Resist Arrest in addition to his outstanding warrants.
  • The 51 year old woman is facing charges of Assault Police, Obstruct Police and Attempt to Take the Weapon of a Peace Officer in the Execution of Duty.

Both will appear in court today.
