Cell Phone Implementation Date

A London Police Service media release:

Police in Ontario are now ready for the February 1st implementation of the “cell phone” and “handheld” law. Yesterday the set fines and charge wording were announced and now, starting Monday February 1st motorists who have not abandoned the bad habit of using a handheld electronic device will face charges. In London, if stopped for this offence don’t expect a warning.

A driver with an electronic screen (ie: tv, laptop, etc) visible to them will receive a $155 fine. Driving a motor vehicle while holding a handheld communication device (cell phone, walkie talkie) or a handheld entertainment device will also get you a $155 ticket.

It’s here, police will enforce it. Don’t complain that you deserve a warning if you get a ticket.
