LTC Media Coverage
Although London Transit has had an online presence in the form of a web site for some time, that’s been about the extent of it until recently. With the relatively recent adoption of AVLC and it’s WebWatch Real-Time Bus Monitor, it’s rather pleased with the ‘modern’ look with which it’s now clothed, judging by comments at this evening’s monthly meeting.
Perhaps a bit too pleased.
Staff report #4 dealt with the coverage that LTC had attracted in the local media. Commissioners were told that “media coverage in 2009 was significantly impacted by the contract negotiations and strike,” and that’s certainly true. But staff’s examination of how it’s faring in terms of public opinion is apparently based primarily upon the articles and comments that appear in print media.
“With local print media as a main source, it is clear…”
There was no mention made of social media at all.
I wonder if they’re even aware that it exists?
I wonder if they were tracking comments made on Twitter if they’d be quite so pleased with themselves?
