Availability of City Services
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) has prompted the City to create a page on it’s website:
Through postings on this page, you can find out if there are any planned – or unexpected – disruptions that affect accessibility to City services or facilities… The City encourages anyone planning to visit of our offices or facilities to first check here in case there is any temporary disruption which would cause inconvenience or an access problem.
This page (coincidentally?) appears following my complaint about an experience at last Tuesday’s meeting of the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC). Unable to hear much of what was being said, I publicly requested of the committee Chair (former Councillor Gary Williams) that the microphones which are in that room be used.
None were. Not because there was anything wrong with them, but simply because nobody cared enough, and because they weren’t told that they had to.
This kind of crap has been going at London City Hall for far too long, and it’s got to change.
