Road Tolls, Revisited

I got into a brief but interesting Twitter discussion with Derek, Tim, Nikki, Jesse, David and Matt before my laptop’s Internet connection crapped out on me earlier today.

Sometimes it’s difficult to get much of a response, but not when driving is discussed.

Most drivers seem to think that it takes too long to get where they want to go, that expressways thru the city would be a good thing, that there isn’t enough parking and that they’re paying too much for the privilege.

Imagine though if the City decided to start contracting out roadways and that the companies that won the tenders instituted 404-type controlled access. Would drivers change their perspectives about the true cost of building/maintaining our roads? Would they long for a return to the old days?
