Video Recording on Public Transit

Ontario’s privacy commissioner, Ann Cavoukian, is reported to have said that “banning video recordings on buses just doesn’t make sense.”

This is in response to a Quebec incident in which a driver was videotaped doing paperwork while driving.

I am so happy to see this indication that individual privacy rights must be tempered by the right to safety of the public at large, and the right of individuals in a community to publish examples of behaviours that threaten public safety.
