If you refer to the email which I sent you Oct. 29, you will see that it included a hyperlink to a post on my blog which includes photographs of the site and the city’s notification sign. The lot is on the south side of Commissioners, slightly east of Leathorne and slightly west of Eagle Cr. My understanding is that it was once a landfill.
As I indicated in my Nov. 17 email, the city’s interactive map has been of no help, because it shows 931+ too far to the east. I tried doing a search on the city website using “931 Commissioners” and “933 Commissioners” without getting anything. I checked the “Living in the City” page and the “What’s new on the website” page and the “Public Meetings” page. I wrote to Mr. Panzer, and you, and Mr. Bain, and Councillor Caranci was copied.
It’s now been 3 weeks since the sign went up, and I’m concerned that my legal right to be informed enough to approach local residents and mount an effective opposition if one is called for, may by now have been severely compromised.
Given the way that my proposal for a Pedestrian Committee was deferred for so long and then dealt with in secret, the way that the traffic situation along Commissioners East has been ignored by all of you, particularly the 2 intersections that I have already lobbied about and the police report that you’ve all ignored, I have no reason to believe that any of you care about pedrestrian safety or are acting in good faith. Hence, my communications to the OMB and the Ombudsman.
I’ll take this opportunity to repeat again what I suggested earlier to Mr. Bain, that there’s need for a Council policy with respect to how councillors should handle citizen inquiries. And more than that, my conviction that the time has come and gone when the position of Councillor could be capably executed in a part-time capacity.
Respectfully,
Greg Fowler
