Josh, I brought this article to the attention of David Leckie and invited him to respond to it here, but he declined.

This was his most recent communication:

I will certainly be reviewing the matters that you raised. Please be so kind as to direct any citizen concerns to our Customer Service line (519) 661-4570. Issues raised there are logged and directed to the appropriate staff for resolution in a timely manner.

That being the case, you may want to consider my suggestion about making a delegation. In fact, I would strongly encourage it.

I've noticed the same kind of thing at various other locations also and have meant to address the issue for some time, so thanks very much for posting that, Josh.

My first suggestion is that another attempt be made to get a response from senior administration. To assist with that, I've sent an inquiry to Mr. David Leckie (Director of Roads and Transportation) and asked if he'd like to respond here.

Following that, you may want to consider a written and/or verbal delegation to one or more of the citizen advisory committees and to the Environment and Transportation standing committee.

I'm delighted to have made this list, although I guess drawing attention to the post (and potentially traffic) goes against the whole goal of the post. Luckily I was only kidding, if I have to be a victim of my success - well, so be it. Keep up the good work. CHEERS!

Greg,
I agree with you. The idea itself has merit but I would still be weary of abuse of the system. I don't think we could be ready in time for the next election but we can definitely could have it ready for the next election if the will is there from both the electorate and Council

In England several years ago there was a government-run campaign (poster, radio, tv) to encourage people to use their vote, especially young first-time voters. This made quite a difference, in the local elections anyway.

I think money should be spent, nationwide, on this.

I'm amazed at the extent of voter apathy and think that this needs to be tackled before thinking of new ways to vote. So many people think that voting is just not worth it. What difference can they make?

As for the different ways of voting, I think tele-voting and e-voting could be easily abused. Postal voting not so much.
