Disabled kids anticipate departure for Disney trip.
For those of you who may not know, earlier this month a man who is quadriplegic from Thunder Bay, Ontario became the first quadriplegic to reach the North Pole.
In response to the lack of awareness about this momentous occasion, DAG is having an action to increase awareness of accessibility issues.

Yesterday, the Disability Action Group of London, Ontario took to the street with it’s Stuck In The Snow campaign to help raise awareness of the issue.
Many Londoners are housebound each winter due to the inability of the City of London to adequately plow sidewalks . Roads are given top priority while the needs pedestrians from all “walks of life” are ignored.

The Ontarians With Disabilities Act 2001 requires every municipality to have an Accessibility Committee. It further requires every city to create an accessibility plan for each new year, and to consult with it’s Accessibility Committee about that plan. Continue Reading

In the ‘Letters’ section of this weeks The Londoner, one contributor comments about having witnessed the disgusting behaviour of five consecutive automobile operators who turned into the Wonderland Rd. S. Loblaw’s parking lot despite the presence of a disabled pedestrian on the sidewalk.
