The City received comments about substandard rental housing conditions at an initial March 2008 open house. A subsequent public open house was held in October of 2008. As a result, the City is now proposing a strategy and a licensing by-law to address the issue, and Planning Committee has scheduled this public participation meeting at Centennial Hall in order to hear comments about the proposal.

Ward 3 councillor Bernie MacDonald is proposing that London pass a by-law similar to the one in Oshawa which restricts the number of unrelated students who are allowed to live in off-campus housing.
At first blush, this seems to be a good way of reducing student rowdyism.
