Volvo’s S60 sports a “millimeter-wave radar” safety system that the company calls Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake. It’s purpose is to can detect obstructions (inc. pedestrians) in the path of the car and to automatically apply the car’s full braking power if the driver doesn’t respond quickly enough.
It’s claimed that the system can avoid any collision below 25km/h and “lessen the risk” at higher speeds.
Volvo has been attributed as saying that its ultimate goal is to build a car that cannot crash. Continue Reading
