Alt-Journalism, London Style

                    

Paul Berton over at the London Free Press likes to harp about the professionalism of his industry and to make aspersions about citizen journalism, but I think the fact is he’s scared. Scared that his shrunken workforce is no longer capable of turning out a quality NEWSpaper, and scared that the local online community is rapidly evolving into a force that can.

Another NHL Rival?

                    

Former Russian NHL star Igor Larionov and former NHL Players’ Association head Bob Goodenow are reported to be members of a “working group” put together by Russian tycoon Alex Medvedev in order to start “a new pro league in Europe…as soon as September 2008″ because “hockey federations in Russia and elsewhere in Europe have grown disenchanted with the NHL over its recruitment of their best players.”

Hitler’s son… fact or fiction?

                    

Acc. to MileOfGold, two prospector brothers discovered gold in Ontario in 1904 and, “since luck helped them find gold, the brothers reasoned that it only made sense that the mine and surrounding village be called Swastika” (a strange-shaped cross which in many cultures is associated with good luck).
Another prospector, David Mitford, was not so lucky. Which is why he and his pregnant wife returned to England in 1914, where their 5th child was born. The same Unity Mitford who travelled to Germany in 1933 and became part of a circle which included “Hitler, Himmler, Goering, Goebbels, and others of the Nazi leaders.” Described by Hitler to be “a perfect specimen of Aryan womanhood;” about whom Eva Braun wrote “She is known as die Walküre (the Valkyrie.) and looks the part. Including her legs…”
And now, rumoured to have given birth to Hitler’s son after her return to England in 1940.
