Has anybody down at City Hall (staff and/or politicians) ever read their own Transportation Master Plan? Do any of them understand the concept of the Transportation Hierarchy? Because when I look at this media release, the city’s proposed spending seems backwards. $33.5M towards roads, compared to only $9.5M towards public transit, and no damn mention of pedestrian-related transportation at all.

The City’s Committee of the Whole approved a budget that will result in one of the lowest property tax increases in the last ten years, following weeks of budget deliberations. The Committee is recommending a total tax levy of $439.1 million to provide essential programs and services to Londoners. Committee of the Whole previously approved a capital budget of $108.8 million. This budget will result in a 2.6 per cent property tax increase, which is below many other Ontario municipalities.
